The bar on the video
Status, play and stop, Start after Stop, the voice, speed, the mixer, where the words go, the gear, minimise.
While you watch, a dark bar sits at the top of the video. Take it by any empty part and drag it where you like. It fades a little when you leave it alone and comes back when your pointer touches it. The popup never covers it.
From left to right
- Status — Speaking (green dot), Quiet, Loading…, Catching up…, Buffering…, Ended — and the video's clock.
- Play / pause — the same as the video's own button; the voice follows.
- Stop (red) — Zeya stops and the video pauses. If the video was in full screen, it leaves it. Then the popup under the Zeya icon opens by itself — Continue from, what this watch cost, History and Settings. The bar stays, now saying Stopped, with a blue Start button: press it and Zeya continues from wherever the video is.
- Voice — the two voices for this language, with samples. More.
- Speed — 1×, 1.25×, 1.5× or 2×. The chip mirrors the player's own speed, so change it on either side; the voice follows the video, faster or slower, and stays in step. The chip is on by default; Show speed on the bar in Settings hides it.
- Audio mixer — the original's level and Zeya's. Voice only is the default: the video's own sound is off while Zeya speaks. Auto brings the original back as a murmur between the lines — low while the voice speaks, halfway in a real pause, up when the sound is music or an effect. Original only is the video's own sound, Zeya's voice off, with the words kept. Auto catch-up keeps the voice in step with the video.
- Where the words go — On the video, in a Panel you can move and resize (every line as it is said, the current one marked), or Hidden.
- Gear — the words' sizes on the video and in the panel, the background behind them, both languages or one, which comes first, whether the Voice chip shows on the bar, and Reset.
- Minimise — folds the bar into a small pill in the top-left corner that says the state; press the pill to bring the bar back.
Full screen works. The bar and the words stay with the video when you press the player's full-screen button. In full screen the bar hides when the player's own controls hide and comes back when you move the pointer. Hold still for three seconds and the video is yours alone. Press Stop and you are out of full screen, with the popup open.
Nothing is skipped
The voice says every line. When a speaker talks faster than the voice can, the voice speeds up a little (never past what you can follow) and, in dense passages, the video waits for it — "Catching up…" on the bar — then carries on.
