Zeya hears the video you press Translate on, so it can translate it. It does not know what else you do — and it is built so that it can't. This page says exactly what Zeya collects, why, where it goes, and how long it stays.
The short version. Zeya keeps your email address, the translations it makes, and daily counts. Your History, your chats, your settings and — until paid plans open — your time stay in your own Chrome. Zeya never sees your screen, camera, microphone, other tabs or browsing history, and it never keeps a list of what you watched.
What Zeya sees
- The sound of the video you press Translate on — in pieces, while it is translated, then deleted
- The video's address and name on its site
- Your email address, from the Google account you continue with
- The question you ask, with the video's words it is about
- How many videos are translated and watched in a day — a count, no names
What Zeya cannot see, or never keeps
- Your screen, your camera, your microphone
- Your other tabs, your browsing history, the pages you visit
- Anything on your computer
- Your payment details — the payment provider keeps those
- A list of which videos you watched, translated or asked about — none is kept; daily counts have no names
What Zeya collects, and why
- Your email address — from the Google account you pick in Google's own account chooser when you press Continue with Google; nothing is typed into Zeya — to know it is you, and to answer you when you write to us. Zeya reads no other Google data and sends no marketing.
- An anonymous id that your copy of the extension invents for itself (a random string) — to count how many videos are watched and translated in a day, and to apply the plan's daily limit on new translations. It is a number, never a list of videos, and it is never tied to your browsing.
- The video's sound, in pieces, while a video is being translated — to write down what is said. Each piece is deleted as soon as it has been heard.
- The video's address and name on its site — so the translation can be found again, and so History can name it.
- Questions you ask Zeya, with the video's words they are about — sent to answer, and not stored on our side. Your chats are kept in your Chrome only.
- Messages you send us through the contact form: what you write, the name and email you give, and any image you attach. The extension's form can also attach, if you leave the box ticked, what Zeya noticed on your last videos — times and events, never a page, a name or a link. On WhatsApp, your number and what you write reach the Zeya phone and stay there until the matter is closed; WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to the carrying of the message.
- The waitlist, if you leave your email on the Zeya Live page, under the list of video sites, under the languages or on the Voices page — to tell you once, when it is ready. One email, then the address is removed.
- Ask Zeya on this website — the question you type into the Ask Zeya button is sent to Zeya's server and to the language model that answers it, with the website's own help pages as the only source. It is not stored; the server keeps a count of questions, nothing else. No account, no email, no cookie is involved.
- Your December guess, if you play at zeya.dev/december: the three numbers you typed, kept with your account's email until the prices are announced and the winners have their month — then deleted. Nothing else about you is kept with them.
- Payment details, once paid plans open (December 2026): handled by Razorpay. Zeya receives a confirmation and a payment id, never your payment details.
What Zeya keeps in its library
For every translated video: its address and name on its site, the transcript, the translation in each language it was made in, the voice files, and the summary. The video itself is never copied or stored. The library is a list of videos — it is not a list of who watched them.
What Zeya never does
- Never reads or stores your browsing history, your other tabs, or the pages you visit.
- Never uses your microphone or camera, and never takes screenshots or reads your screen.
- Never keeps a list of which videos you watched, translated or asked about. Daily counts are totals, with no video names.
- Never shows one person another person's activity.
- Never sells or shares your information with anyone, except the providers below that do the actual work, and never for advertising.
Who else hears the video
To translate a video, Zeya's server sends the video's sound to a speech-to-text provider, the words to a translation model, the translation to a voice provider, and — for the summary and Ask Zeya — the words to a language model. They receive the video's sound or words, and the question you ask — never your email or anything else that says who you are. Zeya keeps the sound only as long as the hearing takes.
Where it is stored, and for how long
- Zeya's server runs on Railway. The library — words, voices, summaries — stays as long as the video is useful to people.
- Your email — until you ask for your account to be deleted (write to support@zeya.dev from the email you continued with); then the account and its email are gone within 7 days.
- Daily counts — kept as totals. They are anonymous from the start.
- Messages to us — until the matter is closed, and for a while after so the same problem is not fixed twice.
- In your Chrome — History, chats, settings, voices and (until paid plans open) your time. Clear history and the bin on a video remove them from your Chrome; they were never on our side.
Cookies
The extension uses none. This website uses none, and has no analytics; its fonts are part of the site, so no other company sees that you were here.
Your rights
You can ask to see everything Zeya holds about you, correct it, or have it deleted; under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act you may also withdraw consent and nominate another individual to act for you. To delete your account, write to support@zeya.dev from the email you continued with; the account and its email are deleted within 7 days. Any other request goes to the same address: a reply within a day, and the request itself completed within 7 days.
Children
Zeya does not ask your age. It is meant for learners 18 and over, or younger with a parent's or guardian's permission, and does not knowingly keep an account for a child without it. If that has happened, write to us and it will be removed.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters to you, Zeya will say so in the extension before the change takes effect. The date at the top is always the current version.
